Charley J. Rowry Sr., 47, of Peoria, passed away at 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
He was a member of New Testament Fellowship Church in Peoria, where funeral services will be at noon on Thursday, December 23, 2010, with Pastor Sam Russell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
Charley was born in Peoria on May 8, 1963, a son of Jesse James and Johnnie Mae (Simms) Rowry. They preceded him in death, along with one brother, Robert Lee Simms. He married Renata L. Rice on October 23, 2010 at New Testament Fellowship Church in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his sons, Charley J. Rowry Jr., Deandre (Canise) Watkins and Kevin Wilkerson, all of Peoria; daughters, Malika Rowry and Sajita Ruffin of Peoria and Denise Watkins of Texas; sister, Annie Mae Simms of Peoria; brothers, Jesse James (Donna) Simms, Frank (Brenda) Rowry and Gene (Nancy) Rowry, all of Peoria; step-daughters, Amy and Jessica Smith of Peoria; five grandchildren; and best friend, Dwight D. (Myrtle) Humphrey of Peoria.
Charley was employed as a Porter with Vonachen Services and was formerly employed with Erlichman Recycling, both in Peoria.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.
